I've enjoyed a regular yoga practice for 16 years and was certified as a RYT 200 in 2013. Yoga has had a tremendous impact on my life and I am excited to share what I have learned with others.
As B.K.S Iyengar shared in Light on Yoga, "The real meaning of yoga is a deliverance from contact with pain and sorrow." Just like so many yogis before me, it is my belief that, through balance, we can find our connection with God, peace and joy in this life, and a healthy Body, Mind, and Soul (BOMISO).
Asanas are a great way to find the balance we seek in our bodies, but we can't forget to take care of our minds and our souls as well. When we integrate all 8 limbs of yoga, we can harness the ability to remove the root cause of pain and suffering in our lives and to help others to do the same.
Mindfulness and meditation are integral to a balanced life. It is important to take time to focus inward, quiet your mind, and find clarity.
Jon Kabat Zinn defines mindfulness in this way: "Mindfulness means paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment... It wakes you up to the fact that our lives unfold only in moments. If we are not fully present for many of those moments, we may not only miss what is most valuable in our lives, but also fail to realize the richness and the depth of our possibilities for growth and transformation."
